Harriet is proud to announce that she is represented by agent, Lisa Bankoff of The Bankoff Collaborative and is currently undergoing final revisions on her literary psychological suspense WALTZING ON OUR KNEES.
Born and raised in Oakland, California, Harriet is an award-winning painter, author, and choreographer.
She was one of the creators of the original production of the acclaimed play, Purple Breasts: one woman’s struggle with breast cancer, which—after top billing at the Edinburgh Festival—had full-page coverage in the NY Times. She was an associate producer of the movie A Special Providence, based on that play.
Her short fiction has appeared in online journals such as The Conglomerate, RiversEdge Journal of the University of Texas and Gris-gris Magazine of Louisiana State University, among others.
Harriet has been honored to win several awards from WNBA-SF. She’s an alumna of the Community of Writers, Napa Valley Writers Conference, Lit Camp, and the San Miguel de Allende Writers Conference. She is a member of Pitch to Publish, IWWG, WNBA, The Author’s Guild, as well as a Thriller-tique cohort through International Thriller Writers. She’s pleased to have worked with editors Kathy Cooper Parker, Joy Johannessen, Alyssa Matesic, Diane O’Connell, and Martine Bellen.
Harriet has been a student and teacher of movement all her life. Between 1975 and 1989 she danced professionally in the San Francisco Bay Area (and one run at the Dance Theatre Workshop in NYC) with such notable companies and choreographers as ODC/SF, Betsy Kagan, Helen Dannenberg, Deborah Slater, KADEKA Dances for Kids, Anne Bluethenthal & Dancers, and Martin Kravitz.
She was a founding member and co-artistic director of The Bureau of Western Mythology, an experimental theatre company, and TALLGIRLS, a dance company.
She attended the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, México, in 1972, when it was a hip and happening scene. She continues in her love affair with México, where she owns property in Zihuatanejo, Guerrero. She has two grown children, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters.
Harriet’s artwork has been seen in numerous shows and has garnered awards. These include Anne and Mark’s Art Party, Pacific Art League, University Art, and Silicon Valley Open Studios.
She teaches Pilates at her home studio, Woodside Pilates, in Farm Hill/Emerald Hills, Redwood City, CA.
